Culinary ProgramsAt The Art Institute of California - Orange County, you can find like-minded students broadening their art and design education. Artists who think like you and are excited by the talent you have and challenged by how you will apply it. Many of our students come right out of high school, some have tried different college programs, others are career-shifters. Something brings them to The Art Institute of California - Orange County - a similar, often lifelong, passion for their art. And, a desire to turn it into a career.

We offer a professional faculty who are from the industry, so they know what is needed to be competitive in the market, and they bring that knowledge into the classroom. The facility was designed with the creative student in mind, and we continually keep our eye on the industry and on emerging technology. You will find professional skills kitchens, G5 and PC computer labs, interior design resource room, a learning resource center with program-specific materials, and many more professional tools to aid in your education.

Culinary Programs Offered:

Art of Cooking
In the Art of Cooking program, you’ll focus on cooking skills, baking, pastry, and American regional cuisine. You’ll have an opportunity to learn plating and presentation as you build upon your cooking experience.

Baking & Pastry
In the Baking & Pastry program, you’ll gain hands-on baking skills. Emphasis is placed on fundamental pastry and bread-baking techniques, in addition to all-purpose baking, desserts, cake decoration, and pastry arts. To complement your culinary techniques, you’ll learn critical thinking and business essentials. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as line cook and pantry cook (garde manger).

Culinary Arts*
In the Culinary Arts program, you’ll have an opportunity to gain practical experience in the kitchen while studying the business of cost control, sanitation and safety, menu and beverage management, nutrition, and kitchen management. You’ll have an opportunity to learn to produce food quickly and in quantity while working with others. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as line cook and pantry cook (garde manger).

Culinary Management*
In the Culinary Management program, you’ll have an opportunity to focus on communications, training, leadership, management, accounting, marketing, financial management, and employee relations. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as restaurant manager or catering manager in restaurants, hospitals, cruise ships, and banquet facilities.

* Evening and Weekend Option: Introducing the Evening and Weekend option at The Art Institutes. Now students can earn some degrees during evenings and weekends, with an online and on-ground format.
